5 Best Places to Go Fall Camping in Your RV

Fall foliage makes autumn one of the most beautiful seasons of the year.

Sure, you can catch the colors from your window. But to really embrace the hues of the season, pack up an RV and head out for some fall camping.

Fall Camping Is Amazing Across America

Take in the colorful scenery or catch fish along a fall shoreline in different parts of the country this year.

Check out the campgrounds in these regions:

New England

The Green Mountains of Vermont aren’t quite as green in the autumn months. They offer some of the most amazing views of fall foliage in the country.

Surrounded by hardwood forests, Winhall Brook is a campground located in the heart of the Green Mountains. Along with the beautiful foliage, you’ll see moose, white-tailed deer, loons and woodpeckers when you hike along the 16-mile West River Trail. It’s open until October 13th.

Dolly Copp is nestled in the foothills of New England’s tallest peak, Mount Washington, in New Hampshire. This campground is both charming and picturesque.

Fall foliage is at its peak in the White Mountains. The Daniel Webster Scout Trail will give you a day of exploring. Or, you can relax in your RV at the campsite, surrounded by unobstructed mountain views. This one’s open until October 14th.

Great Lakes

Fall comes early to the Upper Peninsula in Michigan, so plan ahead.

With four campgrounds – both rustic and modern – Tahquamenon Falls State Park has more than 40 miles of hiking trails, 13 inland lakes, and approximately 20,000 acres of natural area sporting great fall foliage.

With a drop of nearly 50 feet and at more than 200 feet across, the Upper Falls are an impressive display against the brightly color leaves. The Falls are open year-round.

Midwest

Located on the James River Arm, a tributary of Table Rock Lake in Missouri, the spacious Cape Fair Campground is a great place to see the color in the fall months. Grab a waterfront spot for a weekend of fishing, without leaving your site.

Table Rock Lakeshore Trail is a 2-mile hiking path that provides dazzling views of fall foliage. It’s open until October 30th.

Ledges State Park in Iowa is a unique and rustic campground that’s perfect for those seeking an active fall camping trip. There are 10 miles of hiking trails that provide stunning views.

Throw the bikes in the RV and get ready to ride the Central State Park Bike Route – where you’ll see some of the best fall foliage in the area. Open year round.

Mid-Atlantic

The towering peaks and babbling mountain streams of Virginia make Raccoon Branch Campground a peaceful escape. Settled in the base of Dickey Knob, the campground is surrounded by fall foliage.

Be sure to check out Dickey Knob Trail, which provides astonishing views of the fall foliage on Sugar Grove and Rye Valley. It’s open until October 30th.

The South

Check out Burchfield Branch Park – a quiet campground in Alabama. Along with gorgeous colors, fall fishing makes this an ideal spot for anglers.

Grab a waterfront campsite and wake up to the beauty of fall foliage reflecting in the water. It’s open until October 31st.

The panoramic views of Mississippi’s Bienville National Forest at Roosevelt State Park are even more impressive when the leaves are changing.
