This park is somewhat inappropriately named because the last thing you’ll feel like when you visit is a shut-in. But that’s not what Johnson’s is referring to. This park’s shut-ins are the rivers that wind through it and provide excellent hiking trails.
This campground is located at the foot of Goggins Mountain and next to the East Fork River. It has plenty of modern amenities for your hookup, with premium electricity and well-appointed facilities.
2. Wilderness State Park Campground in Carp Lake, Michigan : Best Camping In Midwest

4. Hayward KOA in Hayward, Wisconsin
There are over 150 campsites for RVs at the Hayward KOA. Since the grounds are so well set up for RVs, Hayward has themed weekends and activities specially designed to accommodate families and visitors.

5. Canning Creek Cove Park in Council Grove, Kansas
Canning Creek Cove Park (try saying that five times fast) is a perfect endpoint for this list because of the tranquility and communion with nature it offers. The park’s 40 miles of shoreline offers hiking opportunities as well as boating, fishing, and bird-watching spots.
CCCP has more than 3,000 acres to explore, and if you need some guidance, there is a bus tour that takes you right through the grasslands and into a 19th century home on the grounds.
