If you’re the type of person who goes camping all the time, you’re probably getting sick of the same old camping cuisine. Well, then, today’s your lucky day. We’re going to show you how to make some new camping recipes that are so good, you’ll still crave them even after you get home!
Plus, since they’re specifically for camping food, these recipes are easy to make at your favorite campsite. Some of them are also great for eating on the go in case you’re planning a hike.
There are even some bonus camping tips in this guide, like how to bring eggs in your backpack without making a mess. To learn all about it, keep reading.
1. Bacon and Eggs in a Bag
You already know what a pain it is to wash dishes while camping. That’s why you use disposable plates and silverware.
Well, with this recipe, even the cookware is disposable. All you need is bacon, eggs, salt, pepper, a campfire, and a paper bag.
Rub down the inside of the paper bag with the bacon to saturate it with grease. This prevents the bag from catching fire while cooking.
Next, line the bottom of the bag with bacon. Then put the eggs on top of the bacon and season with salt and pepper.
Close the bag and carefully poke a stick through it to hold it. Roast it over some hot coals for about 5-7 minutes, then open and enjoy!
Oh, and don’t bring a carton of eggs on your camping trip/hike. Crack the eggs into a plastic water bottle (using a funnel) before you pack them. You can also freeze them if you want to.
2. Breakfast Bread Bowls
Alternatively, you can cook the eggs with ham in a bread bowl that’s big enough to hold them. Simply scoop out the center of the bread, put in the ham, eggs, cheese, and seasoning. Then, close the top of the bread over it, and wrap it all in foil.
Bake it over the fire for about 20 minutes, rotating it twice while cooking. Then, carefully remove it and serve.
3. Chili Cheese Fries in Foil
Wrap some fries in foil in a single layer. Cook over the fire and check them after 10 minutes.
If necessary, cook them longer. But check every 5 minutes so that you don’t burn them.
Once they’re done, smother them with chili and cheese and wrap them up again. This time, cook them for 5-7 minutes. As soon as they’re cool enough, dump them in a bowl and eat with a disposable fork.
4. Tacos in a Bag
Want to make the easiest hiking lunch possible? Bring all of your favorite taco fillings in an ice chest (meat, cheese, lettuce, etc.) plus some single-serving bags of chips.
Then, dump the taco ingredients into a chip bag and shake it up. Eat them right out of the bag as you hike!
5. Fire-Roasted Cinnamon Rolls
Marshmallows and hot dogs aren’t the only things you can roast on your campfire. This trip, bring a can of uncooked cinnamon rolls, put them on sticks, and bake them over the fire instead.
